DBIA-Mid-Atlantic Committees

Note: All committees and coordinators/leads will work with the Officers on the Board of Directors as well as the Regional Executive Director and periodically with their counterparts at the Hampton Roads Chapter. Additional DBIA‐MAR member volunteers are welcome and needed to work on many of the Committees, please see the Committee Chair or Region President if you are interested in working in the Region.

Owner's Council Mission Statement

Provide a forum where Owners can share Design-Build experiences and best practices and in turn provide input to the Board and Region on programs and education that would better support Owners’ efforts on projects through the use of innovative Design-Build Project Delivery Methods. Encourage membership and participation on the Owner’s Council so that we may mutually promote the benefits of Design-Build in getting all manner of Projects in service as effectively as possible

Membership Committee
  • Maintain:
    • An active roster of all Region contacts and members
    • A database of membership status including expiration dates
    • Actively solicit membership at all Region functions
  • Manage distribution of Region membership rebates between Region and Chapters
  • Contact and question Members who fail to renew Membership to understand reasons why
Programs & Events Committee
  • Maintain an active Program Calendar
  • Identify Program Venues, Dates and Times
  • Furnish Program Presentations to Web site Manager for posting
  • Work with Professional Association Coordinator to identify common areas of interest for potential joint events with sister Organizations
  • Work with Programs Committee to make sure all our Regional Programs will be recognized by National for contact hour credits towards Designation requirements
  • Obtain copies of speaker presentations for posting to DBIA?MAR web site
Professional Association Coordinator
  • Identify planned functions of sister Organizations such as ACEC, SAME, AGC etc, so as to avoid schedule conflicts whenever practical; this data will be shared with Program committee regularly
  • Work with Program & Events Committee to identify common areas of interest for potential joint events with sister Organizations
Annual Charity Event Coordinator
  • Work with Board of Directors in identifying appropriate charitable events or Projects where the Membership of DBIA?MAR can give back to our local communities to those in need
Communications Committee
  • Assure timely, relevant, and accurate information is distributed to the Region Membership and Contacts
  • Provide oversight of content on DBIA-MAR web site working with web master to update at least monthly
  • Work with Programs Committee to promote all Regional events
  • Work with Professional Assoc. Coordinator to Share reciprocal promotion of sister Organizations’ events
  • Work with Education Coordinator to make sure all our Regional Courses are promoted so as to assure minimum participants are met in time to avoid any cancellations
Annual Awards Program Committee
  • Encourage award applications for DBIA?MAR Regional Design Excellence Awards
  • Identify Judges and seat a jury for award submission evaluation
  • Provide feedback to all award applicants on ways to improve their applications in event they choose to submit at National Level competition
Student Chapter Liaison
  • Working with DBIA George Mason University and Virginia Tech
  • Identify additional local Universities that may have students interested in becoming involved or starting their own Chapter
  • Identify at least two Programs specifically for the student members
  • Recruit local students to serve as volunteers at two National conferences.
Training & Education Coordinator
  • Work with Communications committee to promote all National DB Education Courses held in Region
  • Work with Programs Committee to make sure all our Regional Programs will be recognized by National for contact hour credits towards Designation requirements
Public Relations Lead
  • Work closely with communications committee and others to assure that Members, Contacts, Friends and the community at large receive a consistent message from DBIA?MAR
  • Work to obtain media coverage of key programs such as Annual Charitable Events & Awards recipients
  • Work with Web Master to provide relevant news updates on DBIA?MAR web site
Annual Golf Event Lead
  • Work with Programs Committee to Identify Venue for Annual Golf Networking Event
  • Work with committee to sell Sponsorships to event for funding Charitable Events Program
  • Work to sell a minimum of 96 golfer tickets
  • Will solicit Prize Raffle Donations
